Clearwater High School

TWISTER is the name for the Clearwater High School GOALS program and it stands for

Tornadoes With Intelligence Striving Toward Educational Responsibilities.

GOALS programs are available at all Pinellas County high schools.  GOALS (Graduation Options and Alternatives to Leaving School) programs cater to the unmotivated student with average or above average intelligence who is not a discipline problem.

A student needs one of the following criteria to qualify for TWISTER:
· grade point average below a 2.0

· student has many absences from school
· student has been retained in at least one grade
· below state median on CTBS, FCAT or Florida writes

The staff meets daily to discuss student concerns.  Daily phone calls are made to the parents of students who are absent.

Benefits of TWISTER:

· class size limited to 20 students
· more individual instruction
· course modifications that allow students to catch up on credits.

Currently TWISTER servers 9th-, 10th- and 11th- grade students. Forms must be signed by the parent. Sign up now. Enrollment is limited, and last year we had a waiting list.
